"America isn't a nation of war heroes and hockey moms and those who crow about being "pro-America" and "real" Americans, it's just plain, ordinary people whose lives speak to the beauty of simplicity and dignity of hope." Tomdiggsit

"My Friends",
I have a wonderful feeling. Almost spiritual. But today, at about noon, I put my ballot in the voting box at City Hall. And placed my first vote for an African-American president in the history of our country. I am so proud. Barack Obama will be a most wonderful President. I can't say how things will go, because so much is wrong right now. Bush decimated our reputation abroad; he has ruined the economy; and has ripped the constitution of our country to shreds. How much Obama can rectify, who knows. But I wish him well. He and Michelle and Joe Biden. Good luck and God Bless!!
All the humans are working for Obama....

Andy has just finished a project at work and done very well, according to his project manager, who called him to say a "job well done!" The client said that he performed way above and beyond the expectations and requirements for the job. How cool is that. : )

How we are going to solve the financial problem

Polar Bears reject Sarah Palin too! The Reject Sarah Palin Rally was huge, half again as large as the one supporting her. Go Bears!!!

I needed to take the spider off the front page, so to speak. This is where I went to high school for 9th grade. It was Wheelus High School on Wheelus Air Force Base, Tripoli, Libya, North Africa in 1960-61. Looking at the picture, I can see where I attended my French class, my world history class, and near the foreground but out of the picture, my algebra class. Dad was principal, so it was always interesting walking to class and having to greet the head of the school as "Hiya, Dad!"

The thing lurking in Mel and Scott's garage ....

How would you like to empty your garbage and have to deal with black widow spiders at the same time?

In going through old photos, trying to organize my storage area, I discovered this beautiful, art deco type photo of my mother as a bride. She was married in 1935. It is so lovely. And she looked so exquisite!

It looks like we have sold our first car. We had it for almost 40 years. We bought it in 1970 for $3200. That was an average price for a car then. Gees! It has been our friend for all that time and we hate to part with it, but as Dick says, it will have a better home now. I guess the guy buying it will restore it. That is more than we can do for it. Therefore, we wish it well.

Darth Vader McCain. Or rather, all the neo cons and politicos in Washington that are advising his election strategists!

Thursday, July 31, 2008

Our car is coming! If Mel was here, she'd be happy too! As to the pic, we are all wearing Carolina blue colors. What a coordinated family.

Sunday, July 27, 2008

Just a cool photo.

Sunday, July 20, 2008

Our new car. We only buy one on average every 14 - 18 years, so the advances in technology always wow us. We would love to have a hybrid, but we are on the road for long distances too much to make it viable. Perhaps in 15 more years, they will have so improved that we can get one then.

I am the one with the paddle up in the air! Very much fun!!
Just want to see this every time I open my blog! It was such a lovely, yummy experience.

Visited with Mel at Colorado Springs while she was working on her annual project with JumpACL at the Air Force Academy. This shot is at Manitou Springs, a quaint little town outside of the Garden of the Gods.

Another lovely image of my sweetie at the Sunken Garden at Butchart. Beautiful memories!

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

A colorful garden shot in the sunken gardens at Butchart Gardens near Victoria, BC. It was a lovely day and so enjoyable with Drew, Alli & Dick. Our trip near the end of May took in another Cirque. We had such fun!

Historic moment and Hilary can't even find a way to graciously bow out.

Unbelievable.

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

You know, it's our turn now. The Republicans have tried their stuff and it hasn't worked (to say the least), so it's our turn now.
Had a wonderful time over the weekend (May 9-11) visiting with Andrew and taking in a Cirque du Soleil in Seattle. We also decided to have dinner at Ivar's on Lake Union afterwards, and had a delightful meal.

Monday, May 05, 2008

Scott and Mel ran in the White Lake Triathlon this Sunday, May 11, and did a fine job. Mel felt she did well in the swimming and running, but needs to fine tune her cycling. Scott decided that Mel was sabotaging his swim by "shortsuiting" him with his illfitting wet suit!! Just glad they enjoyed their outing.

Jen and Kayla's open house

Jen and Kayla graduated and (hopefully) enjoyed their open house at our place Saturday, May 3rd. Their families came as well and we had a lovely afternoon enjoying the outdoors, the food, and the company!

Our "Titanic Gourmet Dinner!"

So, we finally had our Titanic Gourmet Dinner! We sat down to an 8 course dinner (pared down from the typical 11 courses in first class), but we managed to have enough to eat I believe : ). All 3 parties enjoyed the experience and the dressing up. We all felt we should do it again. Those of you who couldn't make the dinner, you really missed something special.

Darn!

Just had an accident this morning at 11:30 am with my Fiat and a truck. I'm fine, the car isn't. Not as much damage as one might think, as both were going slowly. I'm upset for many reasons. The weather lately sucks and caused this accident. Don't need this right now. More later.

Way too much snow

We have no where else to shovel our snow! This picture was taken a few days ago, and luckily, we haven't had any more snow to speak of. Some has melted, but not a lot. Help!
